WASHINGTON FIGHTS BACK FROM 11 POINT DEFICIT

WASHINGTON 67 DEFEATS ILLINOIS 64

2 college teams went at it on Saturday afternoon in an NCAA tournament game, trading baskets and elbows and mistakes, both of them refusing to give in. But of course one of them did, and it was Illinois, with Dee Brown's three-point attempt to tie the game hitting the back of the rim.

Brandon Roy helped steer Washington back from an eleven-points down in the 2nd half and the Huskies beat Illinois 67-64 on Saturday in a 2nd round NCAA Tournament game that featured dramatic scoring swings.

Washington point guard Justin Dentmon scored all 9 of his 2nd-half points in the last 8 minutes as the 5th-seed Huskies rallied from a double-digit deficit late in the game for a 67-64 win over No. four Illinois in the  Washington, D.C., Regional 2nd-round game. Washington (26-6) will meet Kentucky or UConn in a regional semifinal Friday.

Dentmon's 9 points were among Washington's last twenty and included a pair of daggers. The 1st was a 4-point play that came when the Huskies were down 6 with a little over 4 minutes left to play. The 2nd was a pair of free throws with 20.7 secs. remaining on the clock that took their lead to 66-62.

"There was a lot weird about us playing them," said Dentmon, who had thirteen points, four assists, 6 rebounds and no turnovers in thirty minutes. "I spent all of high school being compared to Dee Brown and here I am playing against him. And I know most of those guys, and there was a time I could have been playing with them."  Dentmon grew up in Carbondale, Ill. He played AAU basketball with and against most of the players in the Illinois team, often was compared to top guard Dee Brown and was recruited by head coach Bruce Weber.

Dentmon's 2 free throws weren't the end of the game. Brown drew a foul on the next possession, made the 2 free throws and then fouled Bobby Jones, who only made only 1 of 2 at the line.

Dehydration can limit the body's ability to regulate body temperature by sweating and/or skin blood flow and may contribute to heat exhaustion, heat injury, and exertional heat stroke.

"It's a mistake to think that exercise (output) without the right kind of energy intake will burn calories and reduce body weight appropriately," said Benardot. "The important thing is to be in balance, so that resting metabolism stays high enough."
