Information and Articles dealing with swimming Pool Safety. Local community swimming pools will open this weekend. The men and women of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service are hoping that everyone has a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend.
Last year in Montgomery County, fire and rescue personnel responded to over 60 incidents involving injuries from falls, trouble breathing, drowning and other medical emergencies at community and residential swimming pools. The four major swimming strokes are Freestyle, Breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. The breaststroke and butterfly are the most difficult to master compared to the backstroke and crawl. John Collins, an American Naval officer who competed in that 1st triathlon, took the idea to Hawaii, where he combined 3 major endurance races, the 3.8-kilometre Waikiki Rough Water Swim, the 180-kilometre Around-Oahu Bike Race and the 42.195-kilometre Honolulu Marathon, into a single race to be known as the Ironman Triathlon.
