Adams State University is a public, co-educational, liberal arts institution of higher education located in Alamosa, Colorado. The university is designated by the federal government as a Hispanic Serving Institution and the first of its kind in the State of Colorado. With more than 3,700 traditional, non-traditional and online students, the university offers undergraduate majors, minors and emphases as well as master and doctoral programs.

Facilities of Adams State University are housed in a 90 acres of land that include academic and administration buildings, a center for performing arts, a theater, 6 residence halls, 2 gyms, an activity center, a stadium, dining halls, a cafeteria, a student union building, a national park and nature preserve, indoor athletic facilities and outdoor playing fields among others.

The athletics department of Adams State University offers a comprehensive program in fitness, recreation, wellness and intercollegiate sports. These activities and programs are geared to provide student, faculty and staff the opportunity to acquire good health and maintain an active and balanced lifestyle.

Athletic Programs of Adams State University

The athletic programs of Adams State University consist of men and women’s intercollegiate sports, intramural sports as well as recreational activities. Men’s sports include baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, cross country, football, lacrosse, indoor track and field, wrestling and outdoor track and field. Women’s sports comprise of basketball, cross country, outdoor track and field, golf, lacrosse, soccer, indoor track and field, volleyball, swimming and diving, and softball. On the other hand, intramural sports include basketball, coed softball, coed volleyball and coed soccer among others. These activities and programs are designed to cater the educational, recreational and competitive needs and interests of students, faculty and staff.

OFFICIAL SPORTS TEAM:Adams State University Grizzlies

The Adams State Grizzlies teams are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level, mainly competing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Grizzlies athletic programs are characterized by successes in both academic and athletic arenas. Grizzlies have garnered over 946 All-Americans along with several national championships.

Adams State University facilitates and awards financial aid in order to help students defray the cost of a degree program at the University. These financial aids take the form of State, Federal, endowed, outside and institutional grants, loans and scholarships.

Some of the grants and scholarships offered at Adams State University include the Experience Colorado Scholarship, Promising Scholar Award, Academic Achievement Award, Merit Scholarship for Continuing and Transfer Students, Milestones Scholarship, Grizzlies Partner Scholarship, Woodard Memorial Scholarship, President’s Scholarship and Phi Theta Kappa President’s Scholarship among others.
