Blinn College Athletic Scholarships

Blinn College, established in 1883, is a two-year institution with its main campus located in Brenham, Texas. Blinn College also has campuses in Bryan, Sealy, and Schulenburg, with the Bryan campus having the highest enrollment of all four locations. The college offers associate degrees that transfer to other institutions, as well as workforce training and continuing education classes. There are also distance education opportunities. In addition to the core curriculum, fields of study include agriculture, chemistry, English, biology, geology, engineering, economics, philosophy, and more. Half of all students who attend Blinn College transfer to four-year institutions to continue their education.

Athletics Department at Blinn College

The athletics department at Blinn College offers intercollegiate athletics as well as intramural sports. In addition to this, student-athletes receive ample support in terms of athletic training, sports medicine, and academic support such as tutoring, academic monitoring, and advising.

Athletic facilities at Blinn College include the Brenham ISD’s Cub Stadium for football, the Blinn College Physical Education Building for basketball and volleyball, the Leroy Dreyer Field for baseball, a softball field, and a fully-equipped weight room. Some of the athletic facilities are located nearly but on an off-campus location, while some are located on campus.

Athletic Programs at Blinn College

Blinn College has both varsity and intramural sports programs. Varsity sports are offered in baseball, volleyball, football, softball, as well as men’s and women’s basketball. Intramural sports programs are offered on a seasonal basis and are open to all students, staff and faculty. Sports include Frisbee golf, flag football, billiards, kickball, tennis, volleyball, table tennis, horse shoeing and more. Regardless of whether a student would like to participate competitively or play for mainly recreational purposes, there are athletic opportunities for everyone at Blinn College. All athletic programs are located on the Brenham campus.

Official Sports Team: Buccaneers

The Blinn Buccaneers are members of the National Junior College Athletic Association and compete in the Region XIV Athletic Conference and the Southwest Junior College Football Conference. The Buccaneers hold 27 NJCAA national championships in men’s cross country, men’s indoor track and field, men’s outdoor track and field, football and volleyball. The college cheerleading and dance teams have also won a number of awards. Many student-athletes also hold All-American awards.

Scholarships at Blinn College are available for incoming freshmen students. Academic scholarships include the Valedictorian and Salutatorian Scholarships which cover full tuition and fees, the Hallstein-Board of Trustees Scholarships, and University Interscholastic League Scholarships. There are also fine arts scholarships in band, choral, and theatre arts, as well as many endowed scholarships.

There are also athletic scholarships for student-athletes who participate in varsity sports such as baseball, basketball, dance, softball, volleyball, or cheerleading. There are also scholarships offered for students enrolled in the athletic training program. All scholarship amounts are determined by the athletic coaches and depend on both athletic excellence and academic achievements.
